
(Suva, 03 March, 2026) – The Housing Authority (Authority) is aware of the legal proceedings conducted in the High Court which was recently reported by the media. The court case is in relation to a drug-related matter concerning an individual whose assets have been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Part of the assets forfeited include a property, which the Housing Authority confirms that DP 5225 Lot 21 is land held under a sub-lease arrangement. While the land remains an asset of the Authority, we support the rule of law and strictly abide by all lawful directions and orders of the High Court of Fiji.
The Authority respects the judicial process and acknowledges the decisions of the Court in relation to the forfeiture and restraining orders issued under the Proceeds of Crime Act. The Housing Authority was not a party to the criminal proceedings and had no involvement in the matters before the Court; however, it will cooperate fully with all relevant authorities to ensure that the Court’s orders are properly upheld.
Any actions relating to the property will be undertaken in strict compliance with the law, the Housing Authority Act, and the terms and conditions governing Housing Authority leases. The Authority remains committed to transparency, good governance, and protecting public assets in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
