Housing Authority has awarded Engineering Contract to Draki Investments Ltd to develop 93 residential lots at Namosau, Ba. At the signing of the contract documents, the Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Authority, Mr. Alipate Naiorosui said, “housing is not only a basic need but also a basic right of our people”.
The latest sub-division at its land in Namosau, Ba comprises 11 acres of land which is ideally located with the necessary infrastructure such as tar-sealed roads, water & sewerage reticulation, telephone and electricity.
Mr. Naiorosui said “the Authority has undertaken this development due to the housing demand received from Ba residents and squatters who are mostly in the low to middle income bracket”. The Authority estimates that the total development cost would be about $1.1m and the development would take 6 months to complete. The lots would be available for sale towards the end of this year and customers are encouraged to visit our Ba Office at 15 Ganga Singh Street (opposite ASCO Motors) to reserve a lot.
Mr. Naiorosui further said “the Authority acknowledged the support of Ba Town Council and Department of Town & Country Planning for expediting the approval of scheme plans and engineering drawings. Going forward the Authority would strengthen its networking with the Lands Department, Public Works Department’s, Water & Sewerage and Roads Sections, Native Land Trust Board to ensure timely completion of this project”.
Mr. Naiorosui said “the Authority already has opened a Customer Relations Centre in Ba in 2004 and it’s fully equipped to provide prompt service to the people of Ba”.
Finally, Mr. Naiorosui stated “that the Housing Authority is fully committed to undertake this development to ensure that we fulfill our objectives of providing affordable housing for the people of Fiji”.
